Golf Galaxy Clearance: When Clubs Actually Go on Sale (2026)

Golf Galaxy Clearance: When Clubs Actually Go on Sale (2026)

“When do golf clubs go on sale” has a better answer than a holiday calendar. At Golf Galaxy, the thing that decides whether a club is discounted is not the month. It is whether a newer version of that club exists.

We track Golf Galaxy’s online catalog every day: 12,318 live listings on September 30, 2026, of which 2,747 were discounted, 947 were 40% off or more, and 131 were 70% off or more. This post is what that catalog says about clubs, balls, apparel, brands, and used gear. For the weekly timing of markdowns, which Golf Galaxy shares with its parent company, see our Dick’s Sporting Goods clearance schedule.

The model-year rule: this season full price, last season 25-45% off

Line up the drivers from the big brands by generation and the pattern is hard to miss:

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke6633.3%$399.99
TaylorMade Qi102242.9%$349.99
Titleist TSR6633.3%$399.99

The current Callaway and TaylorMade drivers had zero discounted listings. Every listing from the previous line was on sale except four PING G440 variants.

It is not a recent change either. We started tracking Golf Galaxy on April 27, 2026. Since then, no Callaway Quantum or TaylorMade Qi4D driver listing has been 20% off even once, while the Elyte and Qi35 drivers were already 20% or more off on the first day we looked.

What to do with this: if you want a new driver at a real discount, buy last season’s model. An Elyte at $349.98 is about $300 under a Quantum. Waiting for this season’s driver to go on sale mostly means waiting for next season’s to launch.

Drivers and fairways discount deepest, irons the least

Discounts differ a lot by club type. Share of listings on sale, and the median discount among those on sale:

CategoryListingsShare on saleMedian discount (on sale)40%+ offMedian $ saved

Apparel3,36221%49.2%439$40
Hats80516%50.1%85$16

(Categories are grouped by product title, so a few items land in the wrong row. The shape holds.)

Irons are the clearest contrast. The same Callaway Elyte generation that has its drivers at a median 43.6% off has its irons at 9.5%. Irons discount less and later, so a “last season” iron set is not the bargain a last-season driver is.

Golf balls barely move: 29% of ball listings were on sale, at a median 18.4%, and only 3 were 40% off or more. If you are hunting deep discounts on balls, clearance is the wrong place to look. A multi-dozen promotion usually beats it.

Most 40%-off deals are apparel

Of the 947 listings at 40% off or more, 439 were apparel and 85 were hats, more than half the total. Drivers contributed 36 and fairways and hybrids 84. Irons and putters had 6 each.

That is why a “Golf Galaxy clearance” page looks like a clothing sale. The apparel discounts are real (median 49% among items on sale), but the dollar savings are modest, about $40 per item. If you came for clubs, filter to clubs and expect 25-45% on older drivers and fairways, not 70%.

Brand depth: Cobra and Callaway discount most, Scotty Cameron almost never

Among clubs only, here is how the main brands compare:

BrandClub listingsShare on saleMedian discount (on sale)Median $ saved
Cobra15149%38.6%$137
Callaway29154%33.3%$120
TaylorMade21242%25.0%$100
Titleist13454%23.3%$75
PING16746%19.0%$76
Mizuno8151%17.5%$150
Odyssey10173%16.7%$70
Scotty Cameron779%9.3%$30

Cobra discounts deepest: its DS-ADAPT drivers were a median 45.5% off. Callaway has the most clubs on sale. Odyssey puts almost three quarters of its putters on sale, but shallowly. Scotty Cameron putters were on sale 7 times out of 77, at a median 9.3%. If you are waiting for a Scotty to hit clearance, the data says you will wait a long time.

Check used before you buy used

Golf Galaxy also sells used clubs: 271 used listings on September 30. You would expect used to be the cheapest way into a given driver. It often is not by much, and sometimes it is not at all:

Driver lineLowest used priceLowest new price
TaylorMade Qi10$337.99$299.98
Callaway Elyte$317.99$349.98
Titleist GT$349.99$399.99
TaylorMade Qi35$304.99$449.99
Titleist TSR$269.99$399.99

A new, discounted Qi10 driver was cheaper than the cheapest used one. A used Elyte saved $32 over a new one on clearance. Used makes sense for Qi35 and TSR, where the gap was $130 or more.

What to do with this: before buying a used club, check whether the same model is on clearance new. When the previous generation is discounted, new often wins.

A workflow that fits the data

  1. Shop last season’s line for drivers, fairways and hybrids. 25-45% off is normal, and the current line rarely discounts at all.
  2. Do not expect clearance on irons, balls or Scotty Cameron. The discounts there are small.
  3. Separate clubs from apparel. Most 40%-plus deals are clothing and hats.
  4. Compare used against new clearance for the same model before paying for used.
  5. Set an alert on the specific model rather than browsing. On previous-line clubs, the variant you want (loft, flex, hand) can sell out before the price gets any lower.
