- How Much Is Home Depot Clearance Marked Down?
The typical Home Depot clearance price is 44% below the regular price. Across 481,936 in-stock clearance listings at 2,025 stores, half were between 22% and 64% off, about 17% were 75% off or more, and 1.2% were 90% off or more.

- Which Home Depot Departments Have the Deepest Clearance?
Right now the deepest Home Depot clearance is in patio furniture, light bulbs and cleaning, all at a median 75% off, followed by hardware (65%), outdoor power equipment (63%) and tools (60%). The shallowest is smart home (14%), outdoor lighting and paint supplies (20%).

- Is Home Depot Clearance the Same Price at Every Store?
No. Home Depot clearance is priced store by store: for a typical clearance item stocked at 20 or more stores, the cheapest store was 48% below the most expensive clearance store and 29% below the typical store. Only 19% of items had one clearance price everywhere.

- Will a Home Depot Clearance Price Drop Again If I Wait?
Usually, yes. Of items that went on clearance at a Home Depot store in August 2026, 80% got a lower clearance price later, the first cut came a median 5 days after the clearance tag, and the lowest price we recorded was a median 50% below the first clearance price. Later cuts came about 3 weeks apart, each about 23% off the previous price.

- How Many Clearance Items Does a Home Depot Store Have?
A typical Home Depot store has about 234 clearance items in stock, with 93 at 50% off or more and 35 at 75% off or more. Most stores fall between 188 and 295 items, and the state median for items at 75% off or more ranges from 22 in Hawaii to 55 in Connecticut.

- Is Lowe's Clearance the Same Price at Every Store?
No. Lowe's prices clearance store by store: for a typical marked-down item in stock at 10 or more stores, the cheapest store was 48% below the most expensive one, and only 24% of items had one price everywhere. Unlike Home Depot, though, the typical Lowe's store already had the lowest price for 48% of items, with a few stores priced higher.

- Are "Was" Prices Real? How Often Stores Charged Them
It depends on the store. Among items advertised at 30% or more off that we had tracked for at least 30 days, Academy had charged the stated regular price on 81% of them, Best Buy and Nordstrom on about a third, Lowe's online on 18%, Walmart on 5% and Nordstrom Rack on almost none. At Walmart, the typical sale price was within 1% of the highest price we ever recorded for the item.

- When Do Home Depot and Lowe's Mark Down Halloween Decorations?
In 2026 both chains cut Halloween decorations to about half off the week before Halloween. Home Depot's prices dropped around October 20 to 21 to a chain-wide sale of about 50% off, not a store clearance tag, and Lowe's moved 234 Halloween items to 50% off at its stores on October 22.
