Is Home Depot Clearance the Same Price at Every Store?

No. Home Depot clearance is priced store by store: for a typical clearance item stocked at 20 or more stores, the cheapest store was 48% below the most expensive clearance store and 29% below the typical store. Only 19% of items had one clearance price everywhere.

Home Depot clearance prices are set store by store, so the same item can be half the price at a store a few miles away. For the typical clearance item, the cheapest store was 48% below the most expensive clearance store, and only 19% of items carried one clearance price at every store.
What we measured
We took every item marked as in-store clearance and in stock for store pickup at 20 or more stores, priced in the seven days to October 25, 2026, and compared its clearance price across those stores.
- 2,275 items, in stock on clearance at a median 57 stores each
- Cheapest store vs the most expensive clearance store: median 48% lower (median $7.20 apart)
- Cheapest store vs the typical (median) store: median 29% lower
- Median of 5 different clearance prices per item
- The lowest price was held by a median 7% of the stores that had the item on clearance
- 49% of items had a gap of 50% or more between stores
Clearance is local
Separately, we priced 4,757 items at every store that carries them between October 22 and 25, 2026 (a median 1,665 stores per item).
- Of the 2,644 items on clearance somewhere, the median item was on clearance at 1.4% of the stores that carry it. At the other 98.6% it was still at its regular or sale price.
- 86% of those items were on clearance at fewer than a quarter of their stores.
- Items with no clearance anywhere were close to one national price: the most common price covered a median 98.7% of stores, and 29% had exactly one price at every store.
So the regular price is mostly national, and clearance is the part that varies.

The last row is the exception: a chain-wide clearance price. Most items look like the Husky wrenches, where a few stores are well below the rest.

- The online price is per store. Home Depot’s site shows the clearance price for the store you have selected. Change the store and the price can change.
