How to Find Home Depot Clearance Online, Store by Store

How to Find Home Depot Clearance Online, Store by Store

Home Depot clearance is set store by store. The same item can be full price at one store and 70% off at another store 10 miles away, and the website has no single page that lists every markdown at your store.

This guide covers how clearance actually moves, how to find it online without driving around, and how to check whether a “deal” is real. The examples are real prices from our scans of stores near ZIP 95662 (Sacramento area), pulled October 20, 2026.

How Home Depot clearance works

Four things show up in our scan data again and again.

1. Markdowns come in percentage steps. In September 2026, 52% of the clearance drops we logged were a round 10%, 20%, 25% or 50% cut off the previous price. The most common steps were 20% and 25%.

2. New markdowns land midweek. Clearance drops in our September data clustered Wednesday to Friday (Wed 749, Thu 578, Fri 588) against 145 on Monday. That is the day our scan saw the change, so treat it as a window, not a rule.

3. Penny calls peak on Monday. Of the penny finds shoppers reported, 39% came in on a Monday, then 17% Tuesday. See the penny list guide for how pennies differ from regular clearance.

4. Every store runs its own clock. For the same clearance item, the median gap between the shallowest and deepest store was 53 percentage points. 75% of items had a gap of 25 points or more.

What the price ending does not tell you: the cents. The idea that .06, .03 or .02 encodes a markdown stage does not hold up. Those endings are only about 1% of Home Depot clearance prices in our data. How far the price has already fallen is the signal. More in cents-ending price codes.

A real ladder: one impact wrench, five stores

Husky 1/2 in. Impact Wrench, 450 ft./lbs. Regular price $54.98. Here is the price history at the Lincoln, CA store:

SeenPriceOff regular
May 17$54.980%
Jun 13$49.4810%
Jul 2$37.1133%
Aug 11$35.7435%
Aug 18$27.4950%
Oct 20$13.0076%

On October 19, the same wrench was $27.49 (50% off) at Folsom, Roseville (Fairway Dr), Carmichael and Sacramento (Truxel Rd). Lincoln is one step ahead, and one unit was on hand.

Two things to notice. The odd-cents prices ($37.11, $35.74) are just percentage math, not a code. And the deep step landed on a whole dollar, which is common at 50% and beyond but adds nothing beyond the discount itself.

The Lincoln store had moved a whole run of Husky air tools to the same depth that week:

ItemPriceRegularOff
Husky 1/4 in. Ratchet Wrench$15.00$62.9876%
Husky 3/8 in. Impact Wrench, 250 ft./lbs.$16.00$64.9875%
Husky 6 in. Dual Action Sander$17.00$69.9876%
Husky Side Mounted Cut-Off Tool$23.00$94.9876%
Husky 4-Pc Air Tool Kit$34.00$139.0076%

When one item in a line hits a new step, check the rest of the line at that store.

How to find Home Depot clearance online

Without any tool, this is the routine that works:

  1. Set your store on homedepot.com or in the app. Prices on item pages are that store’s price, and that usually includes its clearance markdown. Our scans read the same store-level prices. What the site will not do is list every markdown for you.
  2. Search the category and sort by price, low to high, with “Pick Up Today” or in-stock at your store turned on. Clearance tends to sink to the top.
  3. Open the item and switch stores. Change the store to the next two or three nearby. If one is far lower, that store is a step ahead.
  4. Only count it if it shows stock for pickup. A clearance price with no pickup quantity often means nothing is on the shelf.
  5. Check on Wednesday to Friday for new markdowns, and recheck items you are watching weekly.

It works, but it is slow: one item, one store at a time. To check stock first, see the Home Depot inventory checker guide. For the full cycle, see the Home Depot markdown schedule.

Lowe’s works the same way

Lowe’s also prices clearance per store. On October 20, 2026, the Harbor Breeze Calera 52-in. outdoor ceiling fan (regular $154) was on clearance at 770 Lowe’s stores, priced from $41.92 to $138.57, median $83.97. A KOHLER Raindet shower bar system (regular $349.98) ran $87.22 to $314.97 across 551 stores.

Same routine: set your store on lowes.com, open the item, switch stores. Our Lowe’s price tracker lists the items on clearance at the most stores, with the median price, so you can tell whether your store’s tag is good or merely average. Example: the Calera fan by store.

How to tell if a clearance price is a real deal

A big percentage is not the same as a good price. The fake discounts we filter most often:

  • Stale reference prices. The “was” price is a launch price or MSRP nobody charges anymore. Refurbished phones compared against the new-device price read as 50% to 70% off when they are not. We compare against what the same model actually sold for over 30 days instead. See Back Market grades and prices.
  • Marketplace sellers. On Walmart.com and Newegg, a third-party seller’s “was” price is whatever the seller typed. One Walmart listing showed “iPhone 17 Pro $29.14, was $1,149”: the $29.14 was a monthly carrier payment.
  • Variant pricing. Some sporting-goods listings show the cheapest size or color as the price, even when that variant is sold out. The size you want costs more.
  • Tiny real drops. A Walmart fire pit at $399.99, “was $432”, is 7% off. Real, but not a markdown worth driving for.

Three quick checks before you buy:

  1. Is it below the price it has sat at for months, not just below the tag’s “was” number?
  2. Is it lower here than at other stores and retailers for the same model?
  3. Has it dropped in steps before? If it went 20%, then 40%, it may go again. If it just went from 70% to 76%, you are near the end.

Deal search is a chat where you ask about deals in plain English, and it answers from the prices we scan across Home Depot, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart and the other retailers we track. It is in private beta. Questions asked during the beta include “70%+ off tools at Home Depot near 95662”, “is this a good price?” with a pasted Home Depot link, “has this dropped?” with a Best Buy link, and “my water heater broke”.

Three examples, with the real numbers from October 20, 2026. The first and third were asked during the beta; the snow blower one we ran ourselves.

“70%+ off tools at Home Depot near 95662”

It searches the 10 closest stores and returns the Husky run above: the 1/2 in. impact wrench at $13.00 (76% off $54.98) at Lincoln, CA, plus the ratchet wrench, sander and air tool kit at the same store.

“Any good deals on snow blowers?”

The honest answer is that nothing is really marked down yet. Four listings, 9% to 20% off:

ItemWherePriceOff
Greenworks 80V 20 in. Brushless Snow BlowerAmazon$449.9915%
EGO Power+ 21 in. Cordless Snow BlowerAmazon$899.0010%
EGO Power+ 24 in. Self-Propelled 2-StageAmazon$1,799.009%
Greenworks 80V 24 in. Two-StageBest Buy$1,879.9920%

A good answer says so and gives you the lowest prices, instead of dressing up 9% as a deal.

“Is this a good price?” with a pasted Home Depot link

The item was a SharkBite Push-to-Connect Faucet Installation Kit, regular $37.93. Near 95662:

  • Roseville (95661): $11.38, 70% off, 3 on hand
  • Carmichael: $11.38, 70% off, 2 on hand
  • Lincoln: $37.93, full price

Price history at Roseville: $37.93 since at least April, then $30.34 (20% off) around September 1, $22.76 (40% off) around September 25, and $11.38 (70% off) on October 13. So yes, it is a good price, two stores have it, and the third store is still at full price.

Key takeaways

  • Home Depot and Lowe’s price clearance per store. Always compare two or three nearby stores.
  • Markdowns step down in percentages, and new ones show up midweek.
  • Price endings are not a code. How far the price has already fallen is what matters.
  • Judge a deal against the item’s own price history and other stores, not the “was” price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find Home Depot clearance items online?

Set your store on homedepot.com, search a category, sort by price low to high with in-stock at your store turned on, then open each item and switch between nearby stores. Prices are per store, so the same item can be 50% off at one and 76% off at the next.

Does the Home Depot website show clearance prices?

Item pages show your selected store’s price, which usually includes that store’s clearance markdown. Penny items are the exception: they never show $0.01 online. There is no single page that lists every clearance item at your store, so you search by category or use a tracker that scans each store.

What day does Home Depot mark down clearance?

In our September 2026 data, new clearance prices clustered Wednesday to Friday. Shopper-reported penny items peak on Monday. Each store runs its own schedule.

Do Home Depot price endings mean anything?

Not as a markdown code. Endings like .06, .03 and .02 are only about 1% of clearance prices we see. Deep clearance prices end in whole dollars more often, but that only reflects the depth of the discount.

How do I know if a clearance price is a real deal?

Compare it to the price the item sat at for months, to other stores and retailers for the same model, and check whether it has dropped in steps before. Be wary of marketplace sellers, launch-price references and listings priced by a sold-out variant.
